Longtime friend and repeat resident Shawnee Boyd, returned to Azule this May to share his completed work, McArthur Boulevard: A Love Affair.

At Azule earlier this year Shawnee, a multidisciplinary artist, finished McArthur Boulevard while on his latest residency. The work, a musical theater production, is a series of spoken word, poetry, song, and music reflecting Shawnee’s life from growing up in the Shadow of WWll to the death of his father at a young age.

He was joined by friends and fellow musicians Michael John, Freedom, Seraphim, Victor, and Irene, playing and jamming together on an impressive number of musical instruments.

You can see clips of the performance on Azule’s Instagram page.
