Dan Riley is a singer-songwriter from Summerville, SC. Balancing roles as a father, business owner, and organizer of the Edisto Blackwater Boogie Festival, finding time to write songs is no small feat. During his first artist residency at Azule, he embraced the opportunity to delve deeply into his craft as a songwriter. Dan arrived at Azule in the height of summer, drawn almost immediately to a serene spot by the creek. There, he immersed himself in writing songs for his sophomore album, Moving On, a heartfelt exploration of self-discovery and processing grief.
In our interview below, Dan reflects on his time at Azule, discusses his inspirations, and performs a song he composed during his residency. You can listen to more from Dan on his website or follow him on Instagram.
