“Junior”

Slide presentation and talk on the life of Junior Norton, adopted son of Dellie Mae Norton, Shelton Laurel, NC. Dellie Mae, Madison County native, was a renowned old-time ballad singer whose work was collected by Cecil Sharp in the early 20th c. Photographs were eventually collected and published in book form. Purpose was to link local and newcomer populations through the artist's eyes, himself a “newcomer” though a resident of the count for over 30 years. Discussion afterwards of ethical problems related to photographing and filming of local populations by those not native to areas.
